Educational Materials to the Public

Breast Cancer Awareness Presentations:

Beaver County Cancer & Heart Association offers breast cancer awareness presentations. During these presentations, ladies are educated about the importance of having regular mammograms. They are also given a strand of beads which represents the various sizes of lumps ranging from a very small bead which can be detected by a mammogram to a large bead which represents how big a lump can grow by the time you find it accidentally. The ladies are also given an opportunity to practice breast examinations on breast forms.

Skin Cancer Prevention and Education Presentations:

During the skin cancer presentation, participants are given an overview of skin cancer and information about preventing skin cancer.

Mastectomy Bras and Breast Forms:

Through an arrangement with Nearly Me, Beaver County Cancer & Heart Association sells mastectomy bras and breast forms. Mastectomy bras, which are available in both white and beige, are sold for $20 each and Breast Forms are sold for $50 each. We are proud of this arrangement with Nearly Me , as that it is possible for women to purchase these items right here in Beaver County.

Dignity Robes

Beaver County Cancer & Heart Association offers dignity robes to women who have undergone a mastectomy or are undergoing radiation treatments. These robes give women the dignity and grace they so deserve while undergoing radiation treatments and/or are recovering from a mastectomy. Dignity robes are made with cotton fabric, secured with velcro and are available in an assortment of prints.

“I recently came across my Dignity Robe which I received from your organization. It’s been a few years since I completed my radiation treatments. I appreciated the robe each day but especially on the days when was in the treatment room longer due to pictures being taken. On the days when I need to see the doctor after my treatment, I was able to wear the robe from the treatment room to the examination room without changing clothes two more times. My robe not only helped me maintain my dignity during these times but provided some warmth in the cool rooms. Thank you again for the robe. It was a useful gift during a difficult time.” – Karen M.
